Luminar To Move Into Gaming
Nightclub operator Luminar says it is in advanced talks to create a
venture to convert some of its clubs into gaming clubs.
Its news came as it reported a slight improvement in tough trading
over Christmas.
The firm, battling the fall in consumer spending and a glut of
late-night entertainment venues, said like-for-like sales fell 3% in the
five weeks to January 4.
That compared with a 4% drop in the first nine weeks of its second
half.
The firm, already spending £100m to revamp some of its clubs,
declined to name its potential joint venture partner - it is rumored to
be France's Accor.
The owner of London's Hippodrome and Camden Palace also said
like-for-like sales fell 3% in the five weeks to January 4.
