Vegas Could See Poker by the Pool
The Nevada Gaming Control Board is in the process of drafting rules
for gamers who want to make wagers while walking, swimming and perhaps
even playing golf. The state has agreed to allow the use of wireless,
handheld gambling devices inside casinos and the board is trying to
write the rules.
Gambling operators are watching closely because Las Vegas sets the
trend, the Seattle Times reported. What starts in Las Vegas probably
won't stay there, as casino operators already are eyeing the possibility
of wagering via Wi-Fi in Atlantic City, N.J.
A division of Cantor Fitzgerald wants to be the hardware supplier for
the new wider world of gaming. Joe Asher, managing director of Cantor
G&W, said the firm's experience with mobile-trading technology makes it
a prime player for the new business.
"Fundamentally, a $100 million bond trade is the same as a $10 bet on
a football game," Asher added. "We think there is a market for it. You
have a whole new generation that grew up with video games."
