Online Lottery by Year End
As a growing number of Israelis are being revealed as owners and
managers of online gambling companies, making huge profits, the campaign
for a legal casino in Israel is gathering strength. Mifal Hapayis -
Israel National Lottery has long been waging a campaign to manage such a
casino, as it enviously watches vast amounts of money flow overseas to
online gambling companies, not to mention the large amounts of cash
rolling into Israel's burgeoning underground gambling industry.
Mifal Hapayis chairman and CEO Shimon Katznelson says, “We estimate
that Israelis spend NIS 1 billion on foreign online gambling sites via
credit cards, to play poker and other games. The Israeli managers of
these sites operate via foreign-based companies, because Israel bans the
operation of gambling sites.”
